What a great morning! We drove to the main business area for the locals, quite different from Lakeside where we are staying, which is definitely a tourist area. Kate Dalitz, a CMS missionary working as Integral Mission Officer with the International Nepal Fellowship [INF] has devised an assimilation activity for new missionaries, expats, short term-ers, visitors, which helped us greatly to get into the culture, to engage with the locals and to have heaps of good fun.
We split into groups and had 2 hours to complete 30 tasks. “Amazing Race” eat your heart out, we all nailed it with great enthusiasm.
We concluded with lunch at a local restaurant [as long as we could find it! – which we did].
Following a light dinner at our guesthouse, we found our way to Gordon & Ruth’s home for a wonderful evening of sharing and Bible study with some of the missionaries from around the world who live in the same area as the Russell’s – Nayaguan. People from Australia, UK, Holland & Switzerland all shared a cake, celebrated a birthday, farewelled those returning home either on furlough or after a medical elective term, celebrated a forthcoming wedding in the UK in a month, and focussed on being authentic Christians wherever we are in the world as we delved into Matthew 7:13-29. We concluded the evening praying together Nepali style, which is sharing our prayer points, and then everyone prays together, all out loud at the same time, with one person concluding. Absolutely wonderful!
It is great to hear from you. God bless Julie
Sounds fun!
